… hear about the sandwich that that walked into the Pub and ordered a beer? The barman refused to serve him. Apparently they don’t serve food! 😮 😛

actually Shane, that is now true of the England…. bars/pubs have to decide wether to serve food and not allow smoking or drop food completely.

I understand smoking bans are everywhere else in the UK

Smoking bans are in place in Qld whether they serve food or not.

Also, if you are caught smoking within 4 metres of a building entrance, it is a $250 on-the-spot fine in Queensland. I have never smoked, so it does not affect me, but plenty of smokers are not happy.

My sister works at a place with over 200 employees. By December 1, no smoking will be allowed on the premises at all – emplyees or customers. They have been forced to phase it in over the year at 3 monthly intervals I think.

I had a contractor install a sign the other day, and even though he was smoking, (he was in a cherry picker 10 metres in the sky) the place he was working at had already become a no smoking site. I got a call from the client warning me that my contractor was breaking site rules, and that I was being warned officially, the next time I would face a fine.
