:lol1: I just got the rem-it rem-it bit …. its the sound the frog makes …… thats why theres a frog there … and the rem-it is for remnants …. :lol1: Or have I lost the plot and Im wrong 😮
You did a great job of the tray Rich, overall finish of the whole sign is certainly eye catching.
Carrie 😀
No need to send the C.I.A round to Rich 😉

The trays look excellent.
How did you eventually fasten the corners?
I believe the manufacturers of dibond publish a guide to producing these types of trays with a recommended method of finishing the corners (which is difficult to describe but which makes sense when you see the diagrams).
-
thanks all the corners are glued with 2 part automotive bonding glue ,which is as strong as nails
-
carrie your on the right track for sure rem it rem it and carpet remnent !!is what the sign is about im just glad you got it !!
-
yep you done a grand job mate. especially for your first one ever. 😮
you should be well pleased. the colours are very striking and the sign has a cheery jokey feel to it too… obviously what is intended.
great work rich & thanks for taking the time to keep us all upto date on your progress. 😉i actualy have one to do similar, “tray type sign” im thinking of using dibond this time but i need a chocolate, silk-matt, sort of finish to it withought having to have it coated. anyone know any materials in this shade as standard….
“everyone shruggs” 😕 “thought so” :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
any help advice appreciated 😉

The sign makes you look at it…… so it’s doing it’s job!
I think it looks great!Marcella.

Trays and the finished signs look great! I’m fascinated with your workshop as well, I love seeing where other signmakers work 😀 The kettle doesn’t look well used though, do you need any help with that? 😉
Cheers, Dewi
-
thanks again ,dewi that kettle is on most of the day mate and if it was a better picture then i think you would change your mind on having tea with us however if your passing drop in !!!
thanks rich -
Smart work
Those corners are really great
Couple of questions (when you’ve got an hour or two spare 😀 : )
Did you use a router with guide and the ‘V’ shape?
How eventually did you bend it over along it full length?….and the corner did you file or sand smooth after bonding?
I’m keen to have a crack at this………hence the questions

john hi mate i didn’t use the v bit just a normal round bit ,you know the d i y sort of thing
once you have got the depth right i.e thought first sheet of ali and part way through plastic the dibond bends so easy its a real dream to work with -
Sounds like I must give this a bash on a small sample
” Here you are sweetheart, just brought you a nice cup ‘a’ tea in a nice new tray..wadda ya think?”

sounds good just dont use the orange like mine seeing that first thing in the morn would hurt your eyes mate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙄

-
I like that script font on the opening hours, what is it?
Alan -
Call the fire department ! One things for sure if they ever get lost- it will be easy to find them. 😮
Nice job on the dibond forming (the corners look nice and round in the second picture)
-
love it apart from the bullets 🙂
thinhk they would look better green with the black outline.
Just my 50p’s worth
Tim.

Love those colours, man. The folded panels are something I’ve long wanted to have a go at, must get round to trying this as it looks very tidy.
Dynamite, did you ever get your van done? I seem to recall you were playing about with designs for it a while back.
-
Certainly some dynamite signage there! 😮 Really like it and the opening times on the door are fantastic… ‘we’re ere’ & ‘we hop off’… classic!
As Andy says, the colours are brilliant, and when you compare it to the before piccy, it shows just what a transformation you’ve made. One for the porfolio. 😀
Cheers, Dewi

Nice job.
Looks really snazzy and it certainly brightened up the place!
Love….Jill -
big g my van is half there in fact the bottom half and looks good need to find some time for top your design looks good thaks mate will post pic soon as
rich -
Sorry for being a thicky.
Anyway we have a cnc router and have never used diabond but are looking to work with it.
I can see from the photo you rountered out about 50mm from the edge to fol to the side. I can see you have cut out the diagonal piece for corners. Did you cut completely through the corner diagonal?
If you did cut through when you fold does the aluminium split?
You siad you used an ahesive to join the corners so i guess you split the corners. Does that mean there is an obvious line.
When you bond the corner are you joining edge to edge and glueing.
Cheers

really nice job!! 😀
love the opening times on the door also 😛 😛

i like the continuation of the theme right onto the door also mate.
only thing i would suggest is to drop the overall size of the door info by 20%… just my thoughts on it.
the signage on a whole is very in your face due to colours etc. it works, as its obviously what the customer wants. the door, although spot on for what he wants kinda draws it out a bit. not the design just the size. its a bit overwelming when you veiw everything as one.
damn.. now i am making it sound there is something up? theres not mate. just trying to put some constructive critisism to you.
one thing for sure is, you have come on leaps and bounds in your work & fitting. glad you have kept us upto date on your work.
i remember “i think” first post on fitting windows was the union jack design text, was it?” anyway.. great stuff mate. & thank you for taking the time to post your work 😉 -
thanks all Rob your memory is tops that was the first help i asked for and along with every ones help came out good too
John hard to explain mate i routed the same distance on all four sides then when you bend you only have to remove the small square and corners meet ,i then key up behind corner and use 2 part glue if you cut the square out well the corners butt together and joint cant be seen
Iam very lucky as i run a car body shop things like air saws and d a sanders come in so useful in this game ,i use the air saw with a fine blade and it allows me to cut through dibond like butterthanks all for your comments and after painting cars for 14 years and only playing at this for last 2 years most for my work would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the help of UK signboards
big thanks rich
