I am looking at getting a Dell XPS Laptop and just wondered if all my present software will run on Vista. I was going to ask for a down grade to XP, but read the other day that XP is going to be discontinued from next year!! Is that right? and what are peoples experience todate?

    Cheers

Would need to know what software you have to answer that Dave, if it were me I would stay with XP, and wait till Windows 7 comes out.

Micosoft have released an application called virtual PC to allow older operating systems to run within Vista. Thus allowing old applications to run as originally intended inside the new Vista system.

It’s free and probably a result of Microsoft realising that a lot of users of older legacy software are reluctant to switch to the new operating system.

It should solve a lot of problems for users of older applications.

You can find out about it here:-

Think SL and Adobe will be ok, not sure on Corel 12.
