    Hi all

This subject was posted in Feb 2004 but it may be worth mentioning again for those who havn’t come across it.

I have just received a demand for £95 to register under the Data Protection Act. This was from a bogus outfit called DCS in Liverpool.

The official website is http://www.informationcommissioner.gov.uk which gives details of everything you need to register if you have to. They also have a list of bogus companies like this one.

If you are required to register it costs £35

Hope this helps someone avoid being conned

    Regards

    Chris

Thanks for that Chris. These guys have popped up a few times on the boards, but its always worth a reminder for anyone who missed it. The funniest thing to try is getting hold of their phone number and ringing them, they seem to suffer short term memory loss of who they actually are and transform before you into a computer consultants that have no relation to data protection at all! 😮 :lol1:

    Cheers, Dewi
