    Hi all,
looking for something that will cut a 45o v groove in 5mm pvc foamboard.

Ive got one of the logan cutters and that doesnt work well enough on hard foam (ok on core), also a router with a 45 bit in.

I have a KK javelin integra but can only find a vgoove attachment for the steeltrak.

any ideas would be most helpful please

V groove attachment for steeltrak is rubbish. Doesn’t put down even pressure resulting in a groove of different depths along its length. Very disappointing 🙁

I second that David. It was that reason why I bought the Steeltrak in the first place but it was useless at it. Barely gets used at all now.

We use ours without issue, had to adjust the little wheel correctly, then was tip-top.

if its only foam you might be better off using a small laminate trimmer with a 45 degree blade and just take the tip off with a grinder, works perfect with a straight edge but does create a mess

Here’s a few pics of a couple of attempts made today to v groove with our steeltrak. Seems something isn’t right with it. That’s even after adjusting the wheel as advised by Keencut

EKKK! :awkward: something very wrong – looks like your steeltrack is bowed in the centre!! Run a straight edge on it and check.

Here’s a quick cut on ours – totally different.

That’s a massive difference Colin. We’d be delighted to get results like that. Definitely bowed, you can even see it when you are using the blade, it’s digs into the laminate as it gets nearer the bottom.

Is it under 5 years old – if so get Keencut to replace it! (5 year comprehensive guarantee)

It is Colin. I’ll have to enquire into that. The v groove was one of the main reasons it was bought. Thank you 🙂

Kick off mate – Send them those pictures and get someone out, Keencut offer good warranty – one of the reasons we spent extra going with a good brand after ‘issues’ with ‘cheaper’ brands!

Will do. We’ve 3 of their cutters with the other 2 been perfect (sabre & evolution 2).

If I can butt in here and make a suggestion…

I have the same machine and use it all the time to make folded pans. When I have had the same issue it’s resolved by adjusting the wheel depth and fitting a new cutting blade (mine came with a box of about 10 blades).

It’s caused by the frame bowing and flexing – so another thing that may help is to ensure the Keencut is installed almost upright. If It’s installed at a narrow angle the weight of the frame also contributes towards the bowing, so keep it as upright as possible.

I have had similar issues but careful adjustment of the wheel (set it to cut deeper) along with a new blade gives a satisfactory groove every time

Just checked – ours is dead vertical according to iPhone level

Ours lies back at an angle but it’s the angle that matched the wall bracket that came with it. Up to our eyes at the minute but will chase it up for definate.
