  • Cutting Pressure Guide / Calculator?

Posted by Daniel Evans on February 22, 2016 at 11:58 am

    Hey guys

Is there a guide or calculator out there than can tell me what force I need to cut at?

    i.e.
    100 micron vinyl requires 55gf
    70 Micron vinyl requires 50gf

    70 Micron Vinyl + 140gsm backing requires 200gf

All based on new blades of course.

I’m fed up with testing and I was hoping for a quick guide.

    Thanks

every vinyl make is different, also subject to blade make & sharpness even dependent on cutter you have. I would have thought that after setting up half a dozen times you would have it saved in your head.

    HI Kev

That would be too easy lol

I’ve tend to use the same vinyls over the years so I’ve not worried to much about it but there’s so many print medias and i’m still testing to find what I like best although Metamark is in front.

I tend to write a lot down and even save conditions if using cutting master 3.

I’ve not found a way on Roland Versaworks yet.

    Trial and error.

We use metamark too, amongst over vinyl, and what cuts one vinyl fine one day, won’t cut the same vinyl the same the another.

If its big simple stuff it’s more forgiving but the smaller stuff it’s pain.

    Thanks guys

    That’s fine

Feels like all i do is test cuts sometimes though.

I’ll just carry on how i’m going then.

We use mainly one make of vinyl, we find different colours need different pressures.
