Is it possible to print and cut from versaworks when sending a pdf? I have a few jobs on right now where I’m stacking lots of individual and repeat signs in versaworks and putting crop marks on to cut by hand later, obviously if I could just get the machine to this I’d be a really happy chappy.

Cheers for any help – oh printing on a versacamm sp540

Yes, you can. You have to lay on a cut path in Corel draw or Illustrater.

    Best regards

ok, I hoped that as it will find the edge of the page to put cut marks, there may be a way to just gut it, but it seems not. Thanks

gavin as i understand it pdf and bitmap is print only.
if it was a eps it can contain a cutpath or you can tell colour rip to cut a eps boundary where the file does not contain a cutpath

Ahh ok, I didn’t realise about the eps boundary Chris, thanks. That;s what I was hoping for with the PDF, but never mind.

versaworks will allow you to cut the boundary of any image without having to create the line in a design package.

for individual jobs to be cut then in the job properties select CUT CONTROLS and tick the box that says CUT IMAGE BOUNDARY.

for all future jobs that are going in that queue to be automatically assigned this, then go into EDIT-QUEUE A/B PROPERTIES-CUT CONTROLS
    and tick the box there.

the eps margin that i think chris mentioned is to do with the issue that design softwares sometimes crop the file too close on export, so when print/cut maybe only 3 out off 4 lines on a square will be cut.

eps margin adds extra space around the edge of the boundary to allow the cutline to be encased and then cut.

if you wanted extra space around your images, say a 10mm border of white then cut. this can be done by applying a MARGIN MARK in the cropmark tab at the desired size.

this when bundled with the CUT IMAGE BOUNDARY gives a white bordered image.

please note that CUT IMAGE BOUNDARY will only do as it says, the perimeter.

hope this is of some help.

Ideal Mark, that’s exactly what I wanted, but was quite clearly too daft to figure it our for myself!

I’ve only been using queue A and it seems it had the cut feature disabled, properly up and running now, just done a few tests.
