    Thanks for the demo Robbie

Might try this as my straight rule with safety handle tends to slip because as you say the pressure is at one point.

Does it take you long to place a demo on the board?

I can see what angle your coming from with the stanley
but no more cutting remarks please 😆 😆 😆

I use a cutting edge bought from JAG sign supplies, it was a bit expensive but it has a nonslip mat on the underside and a good finger protector.

I havnt had any slips or dodgy cuts since. Well worth the cash so far but I dont know how long the non slip material will last.

    Hi all
i use a Trend guide clamp originally for power tools etc, clamps in place so no slipping etc and you can keep your fingers well away. i have a 1250mm clamp and use it from 2440mm boards down to 300m boards, with thinner board you just need to place a scrap packing piece underneth when cutting

thanks for the replies guys 😉

    Hi john
The demos can take anything from 1.5 hours (short simple one) to about 4 hours. That’s not counting the time on taking the pictures or anything.
This is Just trying to crop and chop the pictures, get the file sizes low as possible & load them. Then type up the text to suite each picture. (oh yeh and try edit my spelling).
Then arrange them with the code to link from the post. It’s not really that bad though, once it’s done it’s there forever and I can just keep loading them when I get time.

The jag one is probably the one I mentioned. I think jag are the UK reps for this straight edge.
The grippy bottom isn’t hard to achieve. B&Q do little thin rubber sticky backed pads to put on the bottoms of glass shelves etc. theses can be stuck on the base of the straight rule I made also. Once worn you just replace. I think you get about 20 pads for about £2.

Yeh the clamping etc is a good ide too. I do use hand pump “g” cramps with my straight edge. Jut put the edge down and cramp onto table at each end. Works a treat!
Good thing with the home made one is you can make as many as you like for next to nothing. I have a small one in my fitting box & about 4 different lengths now in the workshop.

Cherwell Sign Supplies are doing the safety ruler at a better price than Jag. The pictures look exactly the same.

    Jag prices:
    1000mm £44.60
    1320mm £62.60

    Cherwell prices:
    1000mm £38.00
    1600mm £59.25
