To cut in plotter it must be a vector draw. No lines, just full letter.
You should save the files as cdr for your future use, but for cutting it depends on the program you use to control the cutter, normally used .ai or .eps.

the tattoorelated designs are vector stuff?

How are you going to cut?? Will you cut direct from corel or do you have an add on, or maybe the plotter comes bundled with softwear??

Hi thanks for your replies, I don’t know if the cutter will come with additional software for text (should do I guess), I ordered it from xpres, also don’t know what’s easiest to start of with. If I use Corel, do I just make the text, make a bitmap of it and then vectorise it, and then save as CDR?
The tattoodesigns are in Jpg or gif format scanned, if it would be vectorised, I could make a living just selling them haha….. I’ll post some examples in the swappingsection later today if you let me know what you’re interested in…

If it comes from xpres you will be ok to use corel draw to cut with, they should give you all the info you need.

Text is automatically vector, so you don’t need to do anything to it other than maybe convert to curves (you shouldn’t need to though). Then just save it as corel file.

To cut it you would do the same thing as if you were to print but choosing the roland drivers instead of the printer – as i say xpres should provide you with instructions on how to set all this up, if they don’t get on the blower to them.

Your .jpg and .bmp tattoo images will need to be converted to vector to cut, you can do this in corel trace

Thanks Lorraine, Xpres been a great help with choosing the best stuff for what I want to do so far, they sended me the equipment last week but it can take a week to Spain, that’s why I allready wanted to play around before I get it all. As for the tattoodesigns, I will use them for sublimation on mugs and shirts, so wouldn’t have to convert them for this.
    Thanks for your help, K

I also just noticed that I started this topic in the wrong forum, sorry about that to the Administrators

Go to VIEW and click on Wireframe to see how your design will be cut. Literally what you see is what you get so any crossing lines, overlapping letters will have bits cut off of them.

I use a basic cutting package and have to convert to curves before exporting as an EPS.

PS: I might take you up on your tattoo offer. I’m doing some T’s for a lady who sells at grunge biker rallies, needs Witches, Wolves, Bats etc.,!!

You could use your tatto designs also with flock and extraflex. You could get nice tshirts, specially with tribals. However you must vectorize the draw to cut it.

We use that kind of stuff. Check the Premium Flock.

Thanks, to vectorise the tribals, do I do them in coreltrace manually or will just the contour on 100 % do? Cause first I thought of doing them in subliamtion, but I guess cutting them will be nicer and cut down the price aswell…
Martin, let me know your email, unless you want me to post them in the fileswappingsection, they are all in .jpg format.
