• Cutter Speeds

Do most of you leave your cutter on one speed or change it for different size jobs. I seem to have got lazzy and leave mine on a middling speed…

    Just currious

I tend to leave my cutter at it’s default setting – i.e flat out.

I have tried slowing it down for certain jobs, but tend to forget I can alter the speed so I leave it as it is most times. 😀

I only slow mine right down to cut screen process printing stencil film as it curls and could get caught up in the plotter head.

Makes a mess of the film and jams the plotter 👿

    Hi All!

I have an old Roland CAMM1 PNC900 plotter, and I would like set the cutting speed less than 1cm/sec (0.25-0.5cm/sec for a special cutting test). The minimum speed of the original CAMM1 driver is 1cm/sec. 😕

    Thanks for any advice!

    Timmy,

I use a Mutoh SC1300 which I leave on 50% of maximum speed unless I am cutting either reflective, thick polyester film or sandblast material in which case I turn it down to 20%.
It’s plenty fast enough for me and I was told by the service engineer that it makes for much less wear and tear on the components if you run it slower.
