• Cutter help

Posted by Lorraine Buchan on September 30, 2003 at 9:16 am

the last couple of days have been a night mare trying to cut easy cut transfer material. The corners of letters don’t seem to be cutting well at all making weedign readly teadious and painful. this is on rounded letters such as S and G but all so on E it’s worst on smaller letters for weeding but its also bad on bigger letter though you can hold them down so it’s easier to weed

I’ve increased my force which helps but not much

    Any ideas please

Have you checked you havent reset your blade offset?
Have you changed blades to a sharper one ? Perhaps the tip of the blade isnt sticking out far enough out the holer? Have you tried slowing the cutting speed?
Im open to correction here , but I think blades for cutting thicker harder stuff are a little different?

    Lorriane
what cutter and software are you using

i use Easy Cut and when cutting small letters etc i slow the speed down settings for the summa are

    speed 150
    offset .48
    force 60-75
using Edward Mathius blade can normally cut down to 7-8 mm letters in easy cut

summa software also as the facility to increase overcut

have you fitted another blade etc recently, if so
did the problem start after that etc

hope you solve the prob soon

    Hi Kev

Thanks for your replies, nothing had change with the plotter.

I’m using a summa cut D500 with flexisign.

The problem has been sorted now, but i think it has a lot to do with the fact i have a really old blade in use and the cutting strip is fairly knackered.
I have ordered some blades and a new cutting strip from Harry.

To solve the problem in the meantime i have increased the over cut.

    Thanks for all the help
