  • Cutter cutting letters randomly, causing issues

Posted by Nick Minnery on February 9, 2018 at 11:39 am

Wonder if anyone can help. If I import some wording into my cutting software, it doesn’t cut in order…..

Example, say I’m cutting 10 lines of ‘Cutter cutting letters randomly’, it might cut the first ‘C’, then do first C of next lines, then perhaps it will cut the inside of the ‘a’ in ‘randomly. Sometimes it will only cut half of a letter, then finish it latter and the cut lines won’t meet.

I just want it to print in order!!

    Many thanks

    Nick

Plus the cutting & design software you are using, some software cuts in the order the vectors are created, some tries to make the least amount of movement some you can tell it which order to cut etc etc 😆 😆

Regardless of the software you are using the cut lines should match up unless there is a problem with the accuracy of the plotter you are using 😆 😆

As Martin says, it’s probably down to the order of each individual element in the cut file.

In Corel, you can look at the layers and when you ‘un-combine or ungroup’ the drawing, you will see each individual curve in the object manager. Each curve can be moved up and down the list which will affect the order each curve is cut in, but not the drawing itself.

And again, as Martin says, some software allows you to choose the fastest cut, or the least amount of media movement.
