Shall I send this email or will I never hear from them again if I do?!

You have used REGISTRATION COLOUR in this design.
This colour is a specialised colour. Not for use as a colour.
It makes my printer spew out black ink, which then runs down the print and ruins it.
Not to mention using a huge amount of the most expensive substance known to mankind. Ink costs more than french perfume per cc.
Both of these cost me money.
I have learned from prior experience never to question your firm on unknowns (remember three utes? I basically wore that extra expense which was due to your careless artwork, while a National firm (yours) squirmed out of any responsibility)

The file needs to be re-saved with the proper black. CMYK black.
I couldn’t do it myself because your PDFs were not editable.
I could explain this if I had the time
    But that costs money!

    Thank you.

    Simon. 😥

    Ha – I feel your pain! 🙁 😀

Tempting, but … If you’ve spoken to them in the past about their artwork, then maybe time to tell them that any defects in their artwork will be charged at cost in the future. Then deliver the rubbished goods along with a bill.

If the customer isn’t previously aware that there may be a problem then it’s difficult to lay blame -unless- you have it in your t&cs provided to them before they submit the artwork.

Perhaps they could still turn out to be a good customer in the future and if they are willing to pay for their own mistakes, then it may be worthwhile.

    Send it! Send it!

Actually, I have written a couple like that – I force myself to wait until the next day before sending…then a bit glad I didn’t send.

Simon, I can understand your frustration but also wonder if you shouldn’t be blaming yourself a bit as well, if you have had problems with artwork from this lot before regardless of how big they are then should you not have checked it??
Like Neil has said maybe speak to them about how artwork should be submitted with something in your T & C’s to say that any additional work required would be charged for.
