  • Curved sign to fit around corner of building?

    Posted by Carrie Brown on March 14, 2005 at 10:12 am

    Hi all

    Is it possible to fit a large curved sign to the corner of a buiding ….. hope you know what Im going on about here? Not flat against the wall but hovering off slightly and going from one side of the wall and curving around the corner to the other side???

    Can this be done safely & securely? Any ideas or advice on the best way to achieve this greatly appreciated.

    Thanks 😀

    Anything is possible Carrie.

    My initial thoughts;
    How about a length of angle fixed to each wall,vertically. Attach the substrate (Dibond) to one of them then flex round to the othe length of angle and fix. Sounds easy and it isn’t really as ordinary angle would produce more of a bowed sign as the angle comes of the wall at 90degrees so you would need some angle at less than 90degrees to get a more curved sign.

    Probably better to produce a steel curved frame to fit the corner then apply the sign substrate.

    OK I don’t know, I’m off to do some work.

    Can you post any sketch’s to show what you want to achieve?

    There are ways, depending on what you want the sign to do, if you can understand that! lol 😮

    Easy done Carrie, only need dimensions. Sign would be made from GRP (fibreglass) and mounted on wall with brackets. (brackets get longer as you approach corner and get shorter as you go away from the corner)
