Curtain Sider Graphics
Hi all,
Thought i`d upload the job i just finished this morning. I asked for some help earlier in the week from the guys who used Truck Vinyl and Lamby and Adrian gave me enough information and confidence to try it out.
Production was 2 hours, application was 2 hours with 2 men.
This was the first time i`ve used, or even seen, this truck vinyl and after some initial doubts and scarey moments, the job came out nice. It took approx 4-ish hours from start to finish (2 men). Compared to the way i used to do them, it`s a massive time saver.
Below is a vehicle i done back in July this year. If i remember correctly it took approx 28 hours through productuon to application.
Seems this APA Truck Vinyl is the way to go. The real test will be in 6 months when it go and check it out. You may hear a scream from lanarkshire around that time if i see it falling off 🙂

Geeze! did the green curtain really take that long? Your profit must of been alot prittier on the vinyl job?

I probably should have explained the timescale on the green one a bit better.
The hours i totalled where the actual time the vehicle was in the lettering bay taking up space. So in terms of actual man hours working on it, it was much less.
The 28 ish hours included having to hang around like an idiot waiting for the light green to dry before re-masking and applying the turqoise…..then same again for the Yellow. The annoying aspect is that it had to take up valuable workshop space while it dried between coats and we all know how frustrating that can be.
Hopefully this APA tape will stay stuck and i can move on to it 100%.

Profits should shoot up………. we have Apa Truck vinyl out there 2/3 years down the line still looking fine

Another thing has occured to me and please do not be scared! 😮 Check with APA, as I don’t think they guarantee layer on layer. Most of the trailers we do are not multilayer, or sometimes we just weld a bleed around the letters or logo, if you are not sure let the customer know what you want to do.
Perhaps Adrian can shed some more light on this?Other times we have actually mixed the two by painting a bottom layer and applying curtain vinyl on top.

When I saw my first curtainsider I was amazed. We just don’t have them around here (thank God!)
You did a great job. I love the red/yellow color combo. That is also one of my favorite fonts. Thumbs up, dude!
