Hi all just a few pics of yet another yellow lorry, nothing to it very very easy fit, posted after various posts on APA Truck vinyl, fitted in a cold work shop after drying the water off the curtains I needed to just blow the heat gun over them to get the mist dry, fitted and left for 10mins before removing app tape, as I pulled the tape off the area was given a full blast of heat, this stuff really is the business and sticks like you know what

Nice job Rich, I may try some of this on my next set of curtains.
Do you get it direct from APA?

    nice job rich.
i use the apa truck as well on tarp covers etc and first time you use it you think its not going to work till you go and check it 10 mins later 😮
as you say rich like s**t to a blanket.
what transfer tape do you use with it i have also done rear wheel covers and printed on it with no problems although you can get specific media from apa for this.

    cheers

Ive recently switched to APA as our main vinyl supplier. They have a great range of products. The wrapcast is very good. Just done four bikes for a motorcycle training school and also a couple of race bikes.

you need to be careful with bike wings, guards etc. often you need a low energy vinyl. "if" this is the case, the vinyl will slowly fail.

Did three bikes for the school three years ago and they were fine. In fact, was a major job to strip them before they were sold!

That was Avery so time will tell with APA. If it lasts as well as it is to fit no problem.

I know off road machines can be a problem as the tanks etc do seep. The petrol tanks are metal on these howeve, so should be O.K.

I must say for a relative rookie to wrapping, it was a great job. The mudguard shown was done in one piece.

Will keep you posted about the longevity tho.

its the "surface" and type of plastic that will cause problems. if the gaurds are just cheap gloss finished plastic it WILL stick, but most need a low energy vinyl. i think All Print Supplies and either 3M or Oracal just brought out a digital version. ive never used it… however, at christmas a guy came in asking me to tiday up a second hand quad bike. this involved wrapping the wings with carbon fibre. The stuff i used was APA and it fitted perfectly well. once i did it, i dog eared it and gently tugged back, the whole bit i put on just came away effortlessly. this was NOT the fault of the vinyl. the vinyl wrapped very well and stuck. but its adhesion was very limited and i wasnt comfortable with doing anymore so told him ide have to decline the job. which he accepted my reasons because i told him even before i started.
on the flip side, ive done the high gloss cheap plastic ones and regular calander vinyl stuck fine. as i said, just depends on the type of plastic.

Not sure on the quality of the plastics but a seven grand bike should have fairly decent stuff. As I say, the ones I did three years ago were fine and did not let go at all. Fingers crossed for these.

    sorry off topic.
    my rule with plastics are
if its the type that would be painted then normal vinyls for the contours is fine.
if the self coloured softer types of plastic then motoX type vinyls.

They should be fine Peter, road bike usually have glass fiber type bodywork painted and lacquered.
Most off road bike have the self coloured plastics that are very flexible and need the extra sticky vinyl.

Nice job on the truck Richard, I may be using some of this vinyl soon so it’s good to hear the comments about it not feeling sticky at first but working really well.

    Hi Stephen,
How about fibre glass gel coat but no paint or lacquer?

I’ve never had a problem with gel coat, all the mudguards/number plates on my grasstrack bike are fiberglass with a gel coat and never had a problem with vinyl at all, just same as paint.
