Just turned on the computer and read that you lot won the ashes back after 18 years.

    Well done.

Must say I predicted we’d lose this one anyway, before it even started, so I am not surprised.

I’m sure there will be post mortems here for many months to come. With most of our long term guys retiring at the end of this series, I think they had already lost their drive and hunger before they left our shores.

They are still going on here about Shane Warne for captain, but I wonder if he is in the wrong sport given his passion for ‘breast stroke’, but then, he doesn’t mind ‘bowling a maiden over’ from time to time, so I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.

I am a recent cricket convert, and thoroughly enjoyed the series. I only wish I had ‘found’ the game earlier because that Warne bloke is just amazing. How the bloody hell he gets the ball to do that stuff is fantastic.

Anyway, it was jolly nice to beat the Aussies at something, for a change.

I take it Warne likes the ladies a bit Shane?

If he just ‘liked ‘ the ladies it would be alright Andy. But warny will drop his pants for anybody from what I hear. His wife finally saw the light and moved back home with the kids. Seems he was ‘lbw’ one too many times for her liking.

And lets not even talk about the mobile phones….

Nike here dumped him as their ‘face’ as I he was getting so much bad press.

You’re right about the spin tho. Funny thing is that when he went to the australian cicketing academy, his coach said he would amount to nothing, and they were wasting their time with him. They interviewed that same bloke last year, and he was STILL eating humble pie 😮

Brian, seriously mate, not taking anything away, but I did, really truley, suggest we’d lose this one before it even started.

Stupid thing is I am not really interested in the ‘test game’ but more a 1 day follower. I get more enjoyment out of watching paint dry when it comes to the ‘normal’ game of cricket.

Wasn’t really too much fussed about it myself until visiting the MCG last boxing day Shane. Didn’t actually watch much cricket as I remember though 😀

People have gone a bit mad for cricket here, at least if you believe the papers. Bit like 2003 & the Rugby world cup, people have all gone a bit quiet now we aint so hot at that 😕

Sorry but I just don’t get the point of Cricket. Mind you I struggle to see the point in football, rugby golf etc. as well 😳

Mind you, I can see the point in mountain biking though (Hey Rob 😉 )

No one celebrates a win like the english mate. 😛

Going to the boxing day test at the MCG is more about ‘being there’ than the actual cricket 😛

This loss tho can only be good for the game tho. I am not sure it is healthy for one team to be so dominant. Goes for any sport imo

I think the same about golf phill

See no real point in wacking the living daylights out of an inocent white ball, than chasing it all over the paddock, just to wack it again. Seems like a waste of a good afternoon.

My aunty has been West Australian Country Golf Champion for longer than I can remember, and she thinks I am nuts for not seeing the value in her game.

Come on, we are celebrating, a BIG win for us, finally and I never been into Cricket until now, so this is good for sport in schools etc., get away from thuggerly football. I do like football though.

I’m sure Tiger Woods would see value in the game 😀

Who was the last person to screw an Aussie and bring back the ashes?

    Wasn’t that Paula Yates?

lol Dave, i’ve now sat here trying to remember what i was gonna say since i lost it when i read your post !

oh yeah, like some of you, i’m not really one for the long drawn out things like this series, the one day tests are far more ‘watchable’,

i loved cricket as a kid as it was the only sport was good at (other than darts and pool !), i remember being picked out when i started secondary school cos i was the only one spin bowling, didnt know any better ! now if only i’d been a good boy i might have been picked for the team more often, the only time i was, i got kicked out during practice for clouting the headmasters son with a bat ! he threw a ball at me one too many times so i figured i wrap the bat round his backside, aint my fault he ducked !

Well it has been hectic in Central London today
Tried to keep away from the crowds otherwise wouldn’t get anything done

I semi watched the test series grabbing bits here and there (as you do)

Absolutely thrilling and nail biting stuff all the way

Shane’s bowling was unbelievable – how does he do that!!

But Peterson is the man who saved the day and made absolutely sure the ashes returned to where they belong

There was a guy at stumps who was always chirping out as Shane bowled a beauty:

In a broad Aussie accent he’d say:

    ‘Ooooooooohhh! Nice one Shane’

The thing is I’ve been going around the house driving everyone crazy saying the same thing: Oooooooooohhh! Nice One Shane!

John, was he doing any “Bowling Warnie” ? That’s my favourite.
