Where would you start in sourcing this canvass/tarpualin. Its to replace number scoring in an old fashioned cricket scorers box. The material is like very heavy linen. I either need to find a company who make them or alternatively find the material and get someone with a sewing machine to make and then do the numbers myself. One ot the more random jobs im asked to do as a sign company.

How about printing them onto canvas, cut them to size and then get someone to hem the edges?

Almost certainly made by a banner writer who would have brushed the numerals on. If you’ve been asked to produce a similar replacement I suggest to get in touch with Russell & Chapple in London

You may be able to get a similar canvas or heavy cotton twill as the original. As far as brushing the numerals there are several traditional writers here on the boards who would be able to help. I don’t think that PVC banner material will work and it certainly wouldn’t look right.

I used to love jobs like that because I always enjoyed the challenge of finding the materials to reproduce the job exactly as the original and I got a great deal of satisfaction when finished.

Hi Both, yes i too feel pvc printed banner material will not look good or even last very long. I dont have a problem with the actual getting the numbers painted/stippled onto the material. I did my city & guilds in signwork back in 1989, and although i dont paint anymore im sure that part will be fine. It was the sourcing of the actual material, either made up already or just off the roll that i can then get made up to the correct length. I wil try the company mentioned thanks
