Could anyone advise on how to update from 4.95 to a version that will run on Windows XP I do not fancy paying for the new pro vinyl software from Signlab as I find 4.95 is more than adequate, do the still do version 6 or 7
    Thanks

Ahh! well I have answered your question in the other post 😀

Sorry you can’t update from Signlab 4.95 to version 5.0. You have to update to the latest version. Because Signlab 5.0 is a very old version now, Cadlink no longer have program cd’s, manuals or issue version 5.0 passowrds.

An upgrade to 7.1 yes, unless you can find somebody willing to sell theirs. It’s 5 years since the last version of Signlab 5.0 was released 😮

There has been version 6, 6.1, 7.0 & now 7.1 since 5.0. I guess Cadlink don’t really want to support old versions of their program.

On the plus side upgrading your 4.95 to version 7.1 is much cheaper than buying a new copy 🙂

When I was looking to upgrade my v4.95 to v7.1 Cadlink told me they give a discount of the cost of your exchange verion, so if yo paid £600 for v4.95, you’ll get £600 off 7.1.
    I haven’t been brave enough yet…… 😥

    Brian (Hays)

Do you mean RP £600 on v7.1?

In 2004, I think I was quoted £1000 ish price… if that is true Brian Hays then that isn’t as bad as I thought it was.

Lorraine the upgrade price is £600, not £600 off the rrp. Would work out a bit more expensive if you only got £600 off instead 😮

A lot of money just for that Brian.

If you had like many people upgraded to 5, 6, 7 & then 7.1 you would have paid a lot more than that tho 😮 😮

    Brian,
I was quoted £15-1600 +vat earlier this year, with the cost of my old signlab already deducted, original cost was over £2000.

If it is now £600 I want one! (so I can email direct from Signlab, as much as anything)

Something a bit wrong there Lorraine?

What Signlab package do you have? you don’t have a more basic package & was quoted on an upgrade + better higher package such as Signlab 7.1 Print & Cut?

    Full package was quoted.

I’m a bit confused as to what package I have, as I bought it along with the rest of my equipment as a going concern.

There has been at least one upgrade purchased by my predecessor, the computer tells me I have ES Composer, which I understand is really basic, but I have the extra clipart & fonts, and the disc says v5.0 revision 6.2. There isn’t a disk saying v4.95.

It all works on XP by the way

It must be version 5.0 if it works on XP. And you are right ES Composer is a fairly basic version. That would explain why you have been told you would get the amount of your original package cost off the price of the version 7.1. Signlab 7.1 Print & Cut is £2250, so if you take what that your package cost off of that I guess that’s where the quoted prices are coming from.

Do you really need to have Print & Cut? maybe a different (cheaper) package would be more suitable?

    Not too bad.
