Corel12 & Roland Colorrip
Posted by Shane Drew on May 21, 2005 at 11:05 amI have a problem that has got me stumped.
Up until recently I have been using Corel 10 to do my die cut of stickers within colour rip on the Roland.
Pretty easy stuff, just add a colour to the pallet, call it CutPath, and all is sweet.
Problem is that I have recently purchased and installed Corel 12, did the same thing, but when I sent it to the printer, it does not recognise the CutPath, and will not die cut.
Anyone have this problem?, or know that answer?
I have gone back to Corel 10 for anything that needs cutting, but it sort of defeats the purpose of having version 12 😥
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

corel 10 may have a different colour palette to corel 12 and in corel 12 the application programming language did change a little.
Check website for CutPath (?) and see if there is a revision for Corel 12, cant think of anything else it could be.

I’ve never had a problem with this at all, CutPath is always recognised from Corel 12.
Can I suggest you check the Wasatch/Colorip help screens where there is a section on setting up the CutPath for various types of software. It may need to be defined in a particular user area

ShaneI may be wrong but I’m pretty sure that the user defined colour in Corel 12 is ‘CutContour’
Try it 🙂

Hi Shane,
Have you specified your ‘CutPath’ colour as one of the spot colours? If you’ve renamed a normal cmyk colour as ‘CutPath’ it won’t work.
Also on another note don’t forget to output any eps’s from Corel 12 as PostScript 3 otherwise you’ll end up with many problems including truncated prints.

Thanks Tan Man. I checked my users manual on the colour rip tonight, and it is definately CutPath. if I still can’t get it to owrk, I’ll certainly give it a try tho 😥
Thanks Mark. Thinking about your suggestion, you may have pointed me in the right direction here. I’ll check it out at work tomorrow (its 11:20pm here now) , but I suspect I did rename a cmyk colour, as that is the palette I default to on my system.
I’ll let you know.
i appreciate everyones time on this.

I’ve got my colour set up as a spot colour (a nice Orange 😉 ), that seems certain to be the problem. It’s definately called CutContour though, although I’ve not tried it as CutPath.

i thought it was the rip that was fussy about the name of the path colour and it could be any colour as long as it was called CutPath – only had a problem when within the rip the “Process Cutting Paths” was unchecked by accident
