• Corel X5 icons

Posted by Sam Ure on March 26, 2012 at 2:44 pm

When we searched for our Coreldraw files (pre Corel x5) on our pc in My documents, they had a coreldraw icon beside our saved filename which made it easy to see at a glance.
It also allowed us to double click the file and it would open in Coreldraw.

Since we installed Corel x5, a corel icon is no longer seen beside our saved filename and when we double click on the file it tells us it can only be opened on the internet!

Anyone have any idea why and/or how we do get a coreldraw icon beside our saved filename ?

Icon/thumbnail display is normally associated with the Corel Windows shell extension which would be listed with corel in the application part of the Control panel. A repair maybe required.

Right mouse button on the corel file…
    Open With
Then choose the Corel Draw program
Tick anything that says "Always open with this program"

I had the same problem when we 1st installed X5.

Our problem was caused because we had 12 & X3 installed. once we’d uninstalled them and then reinstalled corel it all worked great!

I am having the same trouble with not been able to see the thumbnail of PDF’s which is abit of a pain. only started once acobat reader X was installed.
