Ross you would be best looking at the license agreement, I would imagine you are only legally allowed to install and use on one computer but that doesn’t stop people installing the same copy on multiple machines.

I guess Martin is correct, I can’t remember what the licence agreement says. Allan will no doubt know the answer and give me a ticking off 😉

as long as the service packs are installed, you should be okay.

Unless you have a written agreement with Corel providing for additional Use, the below agreement gives you permission to install and Use one (1) copy of this Product on one (1) computer or electronic device at any given time as set out in more detail below.

Above is cut and pasted from the license agreement.

Also Student versions are not for commercial use.

    I will say no more

I know some software’s actually allow it to be installed on more than one machine but only one machine can be used at a time, I think it might have been a dongle based software as I remember always having to swap the dongles between machines 😕

In the case of Corel if it’s not a multi user license then Alan is 100% correct.

License agreements are funny things… there is a Corel Small business edition now, but I think its limited to 3 PC’s.
Also Adobe software, thats got a system to protect it from being installed on 1 system but I think you can install it on your own personal laptop???

Microsoft licensing is a strange one too… for the operating systems on a network you normally have ‘device’ and ‘user’, well ‘user’ is classed as a person who sits in front of a device and ‘device’ is a computer or other machine, so when you do the licensing maths you have to work out how many staff vs how many computers.

Now when we come to cutter software? thats another ball game isn’t it

Adobe allows 2 installs but 1 user, the idea as Dave says is that you could install a second copy on your laptop, this would allow you to design at your office on a desktop then take your laptop out to the customer to show them the design but the thing to remember is it is licensed only for one user.

    Russell.
