I’m not sure if you can do it with the contour tool Neil…….can you get away with just putting a thick outline on and changing the corners to round ?? (all done in the outline pen dialogue box)

Don’t think it can be done in Corel as I have tried to find this a while back.
As suggested i also add a big outline with rounded corners and convert it to an object, then remove the inner unwanted bits. A faff i know but i haven’t found another solution to this minor problem. -
new it was there somewhere x3 on
windows – dockers – fillet scallop chamfer.
just tried it on some text converted to curves first
else alex’s way works for me

Click on the pen nib icon and then on the pen nib dialogue box. Where it says "corners" click on the one you want. Job done! Simples.

Thanks for that i managed to do it with the outline tool, the only thing that would be handy is been able to ungroup the outline from the text!
Thanks.

you can glenn, just convert the outline to an object, job done..
arrange>convert outline to object
then you can ungroup

I have a macro that does that to contours http://macromonster.com/index.php?mod=descr&id_desc=10.
The other methods work ok but may affect the inside corners as well.

Great stuff, just the thing i was looking for. Surely it should be a standard feature in Coreldraw on future updates but for now i don’t mind paying a few quid to save me a little time.
Thanks Alan.

http://www.macromonster.com and http://www.oberonplace.com (and others I suspect) are excellent sources of either free or inexpensive macros that can significantly enhance Corel Draw features for signmakers. Hopefully extra tools for us will filter through into the main programme but for now macros work well, either adding features or automating what is already there.
To be honest Corel Draw is used by so many different industries and everybody is clamoring for more stuff, the R & D budget isn’t big enough to accommodate everything at once.
