  • Corel 8 and a Gerber envision? Newbie needs some help!

Hey guys and this is an excellent site and i hope im in the right area to ask this question?
I am very new to this whole sign making thing and I am trying to figure out how to get Corel 8 to talk / cut with my gerber envision cutter.

I have it currently running with signlab 5 and its excellent but now i need to get it to work with corel 8, any ideas on how to get them to talk to eachother and work?

If this helps? As the gerber was a second user unit i never got any drivers with it and i use it as a generic hpgl one in signlab

Is there anywhere i can get drivers for the plotter to convince my XP running pc that its a printer or is this not the way to go forward?

I would really appreciate the help especially as im a newbie

    Thanks
    Mark (hot)

nope.. the gerber stuff requires signlab, gerber omega or gerber advantage to be operated… although maybe a HPGL compatible print driver might work its not one for the faint hearted as I haven’t a clue.

We just bought Gerber Omega for the purpose of driving an Omega Odyseey and we do all our work in Corel.

Some of these more modern printers work with a print driver, I understand they can be a bit awkward.

Hi and thanks am i better off trying to sell the cutter on ebay for instance as i dont know where else i could sell it? I could also advertise here and buying another unit that will also work with my pc and corel.

This cutter was expensive as the seller who owned the sign shop said it was an excellent commercial unit which was built to last for almost ever etc etc does this unit have good re sale value?

I would really like a roland as my friend has one and that sings and also dances with everything pc

    Thanks

Why do you need it to run with corel? just import your corel file into signlab, it even has a button that you can add to corels tool bar, click on it and job sorted
