    Hi,

I was wonderring if anyone could help?
I’m looking at an option of fitting large aluminum composite panels indoors to a wall – 5 in total with the widest 1400mm [all heights 2960mm].
I need to off-set them from the wall however i don’t want to fit straps to the wall as there is things happening at the joins.
Anyway….does anyone think there would be a problem using locators on the back of panels this size…all the panels join together to make a black wall.

    Thanks in Advance

    Andrew

    hi andrew

just popping out at the moment mate… so will reply later.

if you are locatoring to composite you will need to run scrap straps of composite or off cuts around 4 inch by 4inch vhb taped to the rear, "then" locators glued to the second layer of composite.
if you dont, you will see dimpling on the face of the composite everywhere there is a locator on the rear.

i fell foul to this twice, one very big job and one small. on both occasions the customers were more than happy but i personally thought it looked terrible and think i was just lucky they didnt complain. that said, you can only see it if the light is hitting it at a certain angle, but still… once bitten and all that. 😉

Thanks Rob…..what do you think about the whole idea of having such large panels alongside each other with locator fixings…..I’m happy I can get them level using large drilling templates?

    Thanks 😀
