Hi guys I am after a help and advice on a suitable tool for trimming composite boards (3mm dibond) out on site.
Sometimes I need to trim off say a 10mm strip off of a piece of board and although I would normally do it with a Stanley knife and a straight edge, but this usually leaves a burred edge and difficult to break the wasted bit off….
So I was thinking maybe a mini circular saw with a fine tooth blade or even maybe the one that dremel do….

    Any ideas

    Cheers
    Stephen

Battery angle grinder or a battery jig saw thingy

Only problem with those mini circular saw type things is it can be quite tricky cutting a straight edge, especially out on site where you don’t have a nice bench to sit it on 😆 😆

I actually use to use a hand held saw that was made for cutting a range of different materials including aluminium & plastics, something like this.

Track saws are awesome, not sure if you can get battery powered ones

I would stick with the knife and straight edge then clean the edge with a smooth file or a de-buring tool. Jigsaws are difficult to use on very thin material and not at all good for cutting long straight cuts, the footplate can also leave a mark along the panel. Angle grinder !!!. If it’s only a small amount to be removed on a short length, 2 – 4mm, a Cabinet Makers Rasp can be usefull but the panel needs to held firmly and a bit of patience and skill is involved.

Circular saw with a guide, or a knife. Score the board a couple of times and then just snap it he opposite way

    I’m with Steve Morgan

Knife and straight edge + file if needed

Agreed, knife and straight edge out on site. And a small plane with the tiniest amount of blade will very quickly clean the edges.
