Comparing UK and NZ prices of Avery vinyl. You will be surprised.

I went to order 5 meters of Avery 900 vinyl from William Smith last week.
They quoted me £25.25 per meter (1220 wide) +vatI thought this was a bit pricey, so I asked All Print Supplies.
The price there is £25.75, so even more expensive.so I emailed our New Zealand suppliers for their current price.
The equivalent price in New Zealand in UK pounds, for the same vinyl, is £16.08 per meter.Same vinyl, same quantity. AND It’s a much smaller market in NZ, so it makes no sense.

Makes no sense at all.
I believe Avery is an American brand? If it is manufactured there and shipped, the EU import duties, and subsequently vat etc etc may make a bigger difference than the cost of shipping to Aus & NZ, who knows.

OK thats a surprise!
I ordered from All Print Supplies, because they had the colour in stock.
Package arrived this morning, and on the invoice they have charged me only £19.50 +vat per meter. That is a lot less than I was quoted over the phone.Is this some weird sort of marketing technique where you quote high and charge low?
I wonder if others will do the same if I place an order with them?Still substantially higher than the NZ price, but a bit easier to live with.
Anyway, now I am completely confused.

If a company doesn’t know you, you may get stupid prices quoted. The more you use a supplier the more likely you are to get decent prices..

Simon.Might be worth trying Pyramid for Avery, they are very competitive.
