Anyone know of any good supplier deals out there? 🙄

Just had e-on on the phone today offering a 3 year capped deal for 10.7p per unit but not having my own premises for the last 18 months I’m not to sure if this is a good unit price?

Anybody got a leckie bill to hand

Try British Gas, we changed to them when we moved (having shopped around) based on what they quoted us we would have saved over £1,000 on our previous years bill had we switched earlier.

If you are going to switch to a fixed(capped)price supplier, do it quick, the deals are disappearing very quickly.

I have just switched from E4B (not good!) to EDF, unit prices 9.78/day, 6.58 eves & weekends, with a daily charge of 29ppd, fixed until 03/11. Electricity is going the same way as all the other utilities…..and we do have a rather high consumption in the pub 🙁

my father in law is currently doing this on his farm in dorset, it’s wuite expensive but will pay for itself in, i think, aprx 4-5yrs, what power he doesn’t use is sold back to the grid!

British Gas charge us 16.78p for the first 4931 kWh then 11.82p thereafter.

The contract doesn’t run out until December, but it’ll be time to shop around then.

    🙁

You have a choice of electricity suppliers? That is novel to me! We only have one supplier, with the only options of being Pre-paid or Account.

On pre paid the units are more expensive – about 9p per unit, but there is no monthly connection charge. (works out cheaper if you only have a flat with low monthly consumption.)On account, you pay about GBP10 per month connection ( for single phase – 3 phase is about GBP30) , and about 4p per unit.

Who said competition or economies of scale leads to lower prices? Seems to me in Europe you pay 2 or 3 TIMES as much as we in the developing world…

to be honest if we had time to look into this, then we would change gas/electric and water. to make big savings would interest us but as per usual, the spam we will get in phonecalls and so forth would be so annoying!

I am quite surprised at the prices!

    When you think about it…..

……all these windmills that are springing up everywhere..what they do is convert wind energy into electricity. But if you keep on removing energy from the atmosphere the result will be global cooling….which means we’re all going to have to burn more oil and coal to counteract the effect of all these windmills 😕

Don’t get me started on British rip off Gas!!!!!!!
I was on 7p (approx) per unit, paying on average about £45 per month. Then I saw the monthly bills slowly creep up each month till they reached £250 when I phoned them to come and read my meter as their estimates were getting beyond a joke. I was told that the meter had been read that month and the reading was correct. 😮 😮 😮 😮
It eventually transpired that they HAD SENT ME A RENEWAL NOTICE AND NOTIFICATION OF A NEW PRICE! This was news to me as I had not received anything other than bills from them. The new price per unit was 22p, now that is one hell of a hike. £250 a month would soon see me on the dole queue in no time. When I said I would like to cancel it I was told I WAS LOCKED IN FOR 5 YEARS………….WTF (chat.) (:) (hot)
Well I inhaled some of their gas and exploded big time (hot)
I had to get my wife to phone them back coz all I could do was swear at the poor guy on the other end of the phone, and I NEVER swear on the phone to anyone, not even cold callers.
My wife managed to negotiate a lower price of 11p per unit and locked in for 12 months from that date which I was more happier with.

I vowed from that point to change suppliers just to spite them even if I paid the same price with another supplier.
I bookmarked the calender as they want 3 MONTHS NOTICE OF CANCELLATION. I have now received their new offer of 21p per unit which infuriated me again.
So a quick look on tinternet on USWITCH.COM got a nice lady phoning me back the next day. She fixed me up with EDF for 9p per unit, fixed for 3 years, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

British Gas has been sent 2 recorded letters of cancellation and asking them for acknowledgment of receipt of the letters, needless to say surprise surprise I am still waiting.

You’d best be quick, EDF have just announced a 17% increase in electricity costs, with immediate effect.

Big thing about it on Radio 2 just now.
