Coloured Screw Caps / Covers where?
Posted by Tim Painter on August 17, 2004 at 8:44 amCan anyone tell me where I can get hold of coloured plastic screw covers like the general white ones DIY stores do. The one that have countersunk base & a cap clips in to cover the screw head.
Thanks guys n gals.

Hi Tim
Have a look at Ashby Trade Signs – 0118 981 5343 – http://www.ashbytrade.co.uk They don’t do covers as such but they do coloured screws. They seem to have a good selection at good prices.
Hope this helps

They are just down the road from me Lee only problem is the screw head size. I wanted to use plastic caps so I can drill a larger hole to allow for any expansion in the Yellow foamex.
What does everyone else do if the have a solid colour or flooded background ? White caps will just look a crappy finish.
Would appreciate other feedback.
Cheers

May not be the way to do it, but unless the background is black/white (I have caps for both of those), I just cut diddy circles of coloured vinyl to match the background and put those over the screw heads. Providing the sign isn’t at eye level, they become virtually invisible.
As I say, don’t know whether thats the correct way to do it, but it works for me 😀

Think I may be cutting pretty little circles to put on my screw caps then 🙂

Thats the way I do it too, helps to seal the screw head so no rusting years down the line (like the caps).

Hi Vivid
We came across this problem a while back and bit the bullet. There is a US manufacturer called Pro-Dec who maufactures these in many colours including metallic Silver and metalic gold. But yo have to buy 1Kpcs per colour so we bought the lot and use them on a daily basis.
Tell me what you are after and I will see if I can hlep

Or…..get a small can of primer and a can of coloured auto spray paint and paint some white ones. Got to be better than buying 1000’s when you only need a few. They take the paint OK.
