  • Coloured covers for self drilling screws ?

Posted by Robert Scullion on September 11, 2005 at 7:56 pm

Have a di bond sign to fix to cladding, I intend following the advice given regarding the self drilling screws, one question I have is can I get covers for these screws, ie white.

I cannot see them in the screwfix catalogue, Dont want to see the screw heads once the panel is in place,

I might be wrong but aren’t these the same thing used for number plate screws from local car spare shops.

    Hi Carrie

Thanks for prompt reply, my problem is that the self drill screws have a bolt head, if you know what I mean and cant see covers to suit, just wondered what the other guys used when they used thes self drill screws

    Thanks again

I have got these in grey from a fixing company beore. The company is called kwikfast and they are in Witham in Essex I believe. Don’t know if they are available in white but its definately worth a try.

You can get self drilling screws whith countersunk heads, and put some vinyl circles over to finish. or a dab of white paint

I hear what your sayin Kev but my problem is that the ones everyone suggests are for self tappers or countersunk screws, the ones I intend to use are the self drilling ones that have a small bolt head,ie fitted with a 5/16 socket and the head is raised, if you see what I mean

    Bob,

The ones I’m talking about above are for the hex head type self drilling screw that gets used to hold cladding to a steel frame building. If I’m understanding you right thats the screrws you want the covers for.

I would suggest Kwikfast should be able to help.

Try http://www.allfix.co.uk they don’t appear online but do in ther catalogue.

as I assume by self drilling bolt you mean Cladding type fixings wich have a hex nut head with a flange.

Quick cheap- buy some spray paint, mount the screws through some cardboard and spray them up.
