Hi, hopefully not being too daft here.

We use a versacamm sp540 on eco solvent. Generally I print through signlab print and cut and only use versaworks when I’m supplied with finished artwork in pdf format.

Our colour pallete in signlab is rgb – is this ok? My main concern with this is when printing solid black as it is made up in the 4 colour process, is this normal or should I try and do something about it? We use the pallete from the vinyl range as it helps with colour names and matching our vinyl range when printing.

Also greys are very green. Especially on the eyecandy chrome effect. Is this the limitations of the printer or are there steps I can take to get round this?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Gavin,

Your questions are reasonable. Can you indicate the version and build of SignLab you’re using?

In general, there can be a bit of detail involved with colour matching, media profiles, and such. For PDF, I would suggest using File menu >> Link in SignLab. This will avoid any interpretation of the PDF objects that would occur from using File >> Import.

The internal colour space for SignLab is RGB, so this is okay. Use what you’re comfortable working with. With respect to printing solid black, there was a recent InfoSource thread here:

I will suggest that this involves your choice of media profile (i.e., print mode). In SignLab, the print mode can be set by going File menu >> Print and Cut Setup >> Printer tab. The context help provides advice about how the print modes are organized.

    Does that help?

    Hi Rod,

    thanks for your reply.

At the minute I’m quite happy printing pdf’s through versaworks. This is working well for me and it means I don’t even have to look at the artwork.

I’ll have a play with some other profiles and also try the colourtone feature. Would this help with vector files created in signlab or is it purely an option for imported images supplied by customers?

    Using 7.1 rev1

    Thanks

    Gavin

just a thought regarding the profiles, all the colours in the pallete I use print as the vinyl colour they are meant to be, some are a bit of on screen but all print as a damn good match to our vinyl range.
