How many customers has everybody punched because they complained the artwork they supplied didn’t print the same colour as it appeared on screen when they ‘designed it’, using Super Mario Paint on the PS4?

To this point I’m at zero, however this week could se that number rise quickly to 2.

    It’s freaking annoying!

If you have artwork guidelines, refer to them, and ask if they did it to them.

Or baffle them with technical talk, whilst asking when they last calibrated their phone/monitor.

I might try the old monitor calibration trick next…

    this is most frustrating.

quick reply, but going way back when thermal ribbon printers had come about.
The quickest remedy for this was if your software colour pallet had let’s say, 40 colours.
Print the pallet onto the digital vinyl you use and mount it in your reception area.
below it in small text, put something like…

“please select from the wide range of colours that we can accurately reproduce from your vector artwork. we also offer a colour matching service for £100 (conditions apply)”

Presented with a wide range of colours, they quickly find one close enough to what they want to avoid the £100 service. And £100 is not way off the mark for this service when you consider what is involved and that’s even with the various devices to aid you in colour matching. anyway, I never had any complaints nor issues with people using the colours I had on my pallet. Ha, yeah amazing how some customers are picky until the point it might cost them.

To be fair I have done something similar with some colour charts Hugh sent me a while back, this weeks problem customers are over email though. I’ve talked them through the reason why their RGB jpeg doesn’t print the same as their back-lit monitor shows it, but its still my fault…

They’ve ‘never had this problem with their other printers’ apparently. Which can only mean 1 thing.

Yep, one of you lot has got a magic printer on the go…

For the record, I’ve no problem achieving the colours they want, just not form the artwork they supplied. I ended up resetting one file myself just to save the arguments.
