Try a test first , see that the solvents dont dissolve the inks.
Spray and cook will do in a pinch btw.

    Hi

Where can i source frog juice.(in a Hurry)

I tried the clear lacquer and it seems to be ok when left to dry, but if ai touch it when wet it will damage prints !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers

why not just cover them in clear vinyl using a felt squeegee?

If you use solvent over solvent you are heading for trouble, use an acylic laquer i have used Krylon with good results (B&Q) just don’t build up to much in one go

yep kev your probably right there mate. 😉
i never thought about that! i use frog juice on my thermal prints.. never gave the solvent thing a thought when replying.. 😕

i still think covering in clear vinyl is the safest way to go & gives a great finish 😉

Yeah, they are right mate, I would avoid using anything with that sort of strength of solvent in it. It will almost certainly have a bad effect on the properties of the vinyl too. You are best to use an acrylic lacquer as Kevin said or Frog juice from Victory 01246 570570.

Frog Juice should work on all digital prints but a taste piece would be required as always.

Rob, I think what Kev meant was that using an agressive solvent based clear like Richie’s cellulose based lacquer over digi prints was asking for problems.
As far as I know frog juice is based on a much less agressive solvent like meths rather than cellulose thinners. I’m no chemist but you could read up on it here http://www.superfrog.com/frogjuice2.html 🙂

Don’t know if that has cleared your confusion at all though ???

Seriously , try spray and cook on output from the Versacam , its the “secret ingredient” here. It actually makes the graphic very resistant to scratches etc (most likely pledge furniture polish with silicon would do the same- will give it a try today and report back)
To do it right , a cold pressure overlam is required. Ask your local urethane coating guys what they recommend , there are some really nice non solvent based spray/brush products out there that are cheap , easy to apply , uv stable and flexible.
PS , cold overlams are a lot cheaper than clear vinyl and have a far better optical quality glue even if you hand apply. Use a soft matt which is almost gloss but will hide any imperfections and wont make the graphic reflective to the extreme.

    Hi
There is an alternative to frog juice, it comes in various formats Clearjet and Clearshield. One is solvent based, the other is water based. The supplier is Alumaframe. tel: 01787 474 300 They do a free sampler pot, I have one to try on sublimation print but have not as yet tried it out. They also do it in gloss semi-gloss and matt.
