OK so I have just stuck some 3m 1080 matt bright yellow vinyl on my car which I did in small shifts as & when I had time to work on it. I was carrying on today & while cleaning one of the rubber window seals with a cloth wetted with IPA the cloth went over a section that I had already applied vinyl to & left horrible black rubber marks on it.
I cleaned it straight away with a fresh bit of cloth & IPA but I can still see the marks, is this something others have come across & is there anything I can try to remove the marks??

There must be someone on the forum that knows of a good product for cleaning matt vinyl, can’t believe that there isn’t something that will work, if there isn’t then do you warn customers how easily matt vinyl marks?

    Hi Martin
ive not bought this before so don’t have first hand experience of it, but I’ve just been looking through William Smiths wrap brochure and there is a car wrap care kit bundle which includes wrap cleaner, protector and sponge to maintain the finish of gloss and matt wrap films…

I think you will find that Avery, 3M, Oracal and I am sure some others now all have after wrap car care kits.

I know Oracal had gave one to us on the stand at Fespa 2013. had at least 4-5 different bottles for different aspects of after wrap care.

I am almost positive I saw 3M doing one before that, possibly when i was at their place in Bracknell and that was 2 years ago. so there should be more than enough sources for this type of thing.

that said, i don’t imagine any of them manufacture themselves and probably a rebrand of something within the care care profession. Car detailers use lots of expensive polishes and waxes that also enhance wraps, particularly "matt"
dont quote me on the names as im useless but we used one on the Paperlinx Chrome Wrap at fespa and really brought the chrome up great.
dont think im tveering off topic now i know its a cleaner your after martin. i just mean the same sources for these types of things will most likely do same. alternatively try authorised distributors of the vinyl brands for their cleaning kits.

With the matt wraps, the dirt gets ingrained in the pores of the over laminate and conventional cleaning products just won’t shift it. We have our smartcar wrapped matt orange and nothing would shift the stains until we tried the one available from William Smith. You rub it in with a small sponge and then wash it off.
