  • CJV30 laser pointer ( red dot ) dissapeared!!!

Posted by Jon Miller on May 7, 2012 at 4:11 pm

    Hi gang,

Before I contact Mimaki (it is a bank holiday here at present anyway) I thought I would see if any of you might have some suggestions…

Been printing and cutting on my Mimaki CJV30-100 today fine. Then I print something and go to cut but the laser pointer is not there!
If the cut head is on left or right of the printer as you will know you press ‘end’ button and the cutting head/laser will align itself to the start of the media and the red dot appears in order for you to detect the reg marks.

Pressing the end button now and nothing happens! No light or movement of the cutting head.
The end button does work as I tested it out going through the menus etc.

Anyone with any insight would be greatly appreciated as I am just in the middle of a job and feel like pulling my hair out! 😀

    Kind Regards,

    Jon

    Are you in cutting mode?

    Hi Denise,

    Indeed.

I just did a mark sensor check and the red laser/dot does work…so I am most perplexed as to why it doesn’t work when trying to get a file ready for cutting.

sorry, I had to ask the other day why the red dot wasn`t there, until the hubby pointed out I was in print mode not cut.

I know, sometimes it can be something silly that has been overlooked like that but unfortunately not in this case, I wish it was… 🙁

I had this "problem" before (I also own a CJV30-100).

It was because I disabled the reg marks on the printer (don’t ask me how): go in the cut menu to check if the correct reg marks type is selected.

    Superstar!

No idea how the heck that happened but mark detect was off???

I use the different cut settings 1,2,3 for non lam, lam media etc and why it was working earlier in the day then not later.

What a relief and thank you.

There ya go Denise, strangely it was something relatively silly. Still no idea how it happened.. 😀

    😀 great.

I too don’t know how reg marks where disabled when I had the same problem.

I also have different cut condition for lam, non lam, etc… but all have reg marks enabled.

Just must have been caught when zooming through the menus.

    Thanks once again! 😀
