Does anyone know of a chrome material that is suitable for wrapping?
it seems to have been done many times, on youtube etc, but I have never found a supplier, is it possible?

The Chrome film that is used for wrapping is not an actual wrap film but a cast chrome. It is 3M product and is available through Wm Smiths.
the Lamborghini or whatever sports car it was that won the last sign industry awards by Raccoon was wrapped using this same film and i would guess any other high spec car that’s been wrapped using a chrome in the last 12 months or so has been in this 3M film.

The Chrome transit posted 5 years ago here on the boards wasn’t done with a wrap but a chrome polyester film. looks great from a distance, but up close? especially after a wee or so on the road… well???? :lol1: anyway, it was actually just done for a short term promotional feature…
Ian Hobbs, that did the van also won "small signmaker of the year" one year at the sign industry awards. nice guy… met him in the Ricoh arena last year and had a blether… Ian still uses the boards… i remember him posting a Pink Farrari wrapped for a hairdressers just recently.

this was his van posted back then…

what i would like to know is….

Your driving down a road at night, full beam on…
crossing a cross roads up ahead is a mobile Mirror. (chrome car wrap)
you swerve into oncoming traffic and kill a family of 4 coming back from a day out at the beach.

who gets the blame… You or the clown in the £100k mirror ball?

It does seem a little silly that you cant have white reflective on the back of a vehicle but theres no law to stop you having a mirror finish.

Park Lane MINI (London) had a new Cooper S JCW wrapped in chrome @ £45k !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have lots of questions from my customers about chrome wrap and thus far have talked them all out of it as it must be a nitemare to fit ??

Imagine approaching the back of a mirrored van in rain and you can’t see it, then all of a sudden you see an identical car to yours coming straight at you! You swerve to avoid it and it swerves the same way…. :lol1:

Well, I did hear about a guy who paid circa £10k to have his Gallardo wrapped in chrome and got stopped by the police 2 weeks later and told he had to remove it as it was illegal.

Well Raccoon don’t appear to have a problem wrapping exotic cars in chrome or 3M carbon fibre
