    hi everyone
i know its late and people probably dont want to be bothered with this but…
im looking at starting digital printing, i have been doint solid and muti layer signwriting for the last year but have had a few jobs wanting digital printed vinyl like their company photos etc printed onto vans and the holy vinyl (not sure what its called) for on windows?
i know thers different ways of doing it e.g solvent, eco-solvent, printed that does or doesnt need laminating,
just basically after a load of knowledge on whats best/easiest and throwing towards printer/cutters that will do the job. im not looking at spending £20k but dont mind a few thousand as i wont be using to much mainly roof/bonnet wraps and logos
sorry for all the question and long story but any answers will be appreciated
    thanks, ed

Sub it out. If your doing vehicle graphics you will also need a laminator.

You’ll know when you have enough work to justify the capital investment in a printer and a laminator.

Yup unless your printing everyday – sub it out.
I too asked this question awhile back, Solvent ink will dry in printheads unless the machine is used on a regular basis, and the top peeps on here gave great advice and ‘sub it out’ until you build that line of business up to justify investing in a Solvent or Latex machine & laminator.

    Me…. working towards a latex machine…. one day….

    Hi Eddie,
contra vision is the trade name for holy one way vision vinyl, most suppliers will
Sell it, I do agree with the guys re subbing out, get in touch with a friendly trade
Printer and when you are spending £1000 a month with them start having a look round, low or Eco solvent inks shouldn’t block the heads these days, most will have an automatic cleaning function that uses a tiny amount of ink which will stop that happening.
    Good luck.

hi everyone, sorry for the late reply ive just got back from holiday, i am newish to all the vinyl games im guessing "sub it out" is a phrase used for dye sublimation printers? and do all of these need to be laminated onto afterwards? i am getting a few bits and pieces but i dont want to keep sending te work elsewhere, i dont want to spend a fortune and would be happy if i can find something to do the job for a few grand
so im guessing im looking towards a dye sublimation printer
    a laminater
and im guessing most printers are now cutters aswell
    thanks for the help 🙂

Eddie, they are suggesting you get another company with a machine to supply prints until you have built up a demand for it. Nothing to do with dye sub!

There is a Roland in the For Sale section. If I had the room I would buy it, bargain. 😎

    Hello,
Online printing services (also referred as e-printing, digital printing, print-on-demand, etc.) are typically touted as the best way to print just about anything, which is basically true. They are very flexible, allowing customers to choose from a variety of packages starting from around $0.10-$1.00, depending on the quality and materials used. And you have a wide variety of photo or specialty paper at your fingertips. Home printing, on the other hand, can be limiting, whether we like to admit it or not
