  • Channel Letter Track Size and Placement?

Posted by Simon Strom on December 2, 2009 at 5:27 pm

    Hi everybody,

I’m trying to draw some presentation drawings for some large track letters. The letters are close to 38" high. I’m not sure what the typical size and placement is for the track on those. Is there somewhat of a standard or does it vary by manufacturer? Is the track typically dead center on the lettering or is it off set? (See attached image for what I have so far).

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Why do the letters need to be on a track? I have seen this many times on buildings when they are not needed. And they look so ugly.

Yeah, I totally agree. I work through a regional sales rep though. So all dealing with the customer goes through them. I almost never have any direct interaction with the customer. I do make recommendations sometimes for what I think looks best, but in this situation it’s a large company and we’ve done other channel lettering for them on other buildings. I’m not really sure why they chose that, but it is what it is. I’d just like to know so I can draw it a little more accurately. Thanks for the reply though.
