    Hi

I’m thinking about changing a couple of print heads on my JV3, it’s 4 years old and not under warranty. Has anyone tried this yet? any tips??

    Hi Stephen

    Good luck !! javascript:emoticon(‘:D’)

Seriously though, it is not a job you should consider unless you have done something similar in the past as you could give your self a real headache.
Whilst it is very straight forward to engineers who have done this, it is sometimes hit and miss with regards to head alignment and will either fall into place straight away or could take some time.

If you want to do this I could supply you with relevant information on how to do so. ensure you have read this through before attempting to do anything.

If you decide not to do so I am sure I can arrange something for you with an engineer visit.

    Hi Tom

Thanks for the advice, if I wasn’t in two minds before I am now.

I’ve had "Dirty" nozzles in the Cyan. It prints OK but has been like this for a couple of months now and is beginning to bother me. I’ve tried the usual cleans but not managed a permanent correction yet.

My plan is to keep this machine for another 12 months then trade for a new one so was wanting to get it running properly and maybe even take out a warranty for the final 12 months

    Any suggestions?

not another another one from Glasgow!!! there everywhere on here

I have changed the heads many times, but I did get someone like Tom to show me and paid him first time round. As I am bit of a tech myself i thought it was reasonable but not straight forward.

It does take patience and now changed heads about 4-5 times and can do it without making mistakes but the first few time i made small mistakes.

e.g. loosing the details on the print head sticker and loosing the head id.

Also, can I ask you to intro yourself please here

I’ve swapped the heads before in mine – like Dave said it takes a bit at first but once you’ve done it it’s a fairly easy job, as long as you’re careful and take note of what goes where.

For head alignment I strongly recommend one of them magnifying glasses with a lamp built in, and it may take you a couple of goes to understand what does what in regards to alignment

it does take some doing, my eyes are not what they used to be when doing ‘fine’ adjustment

ive only ever changed tubes, manifolds, dampers and a couple of heads.
before i touched anything i took some digital pictures and printed them out big to have at hand for reference. :lol1: anyway, done it all fine and dandy but was very cautious and took my time. got the whole thing back in tact no problems BUT….. the heads were STILL not 100%. it got me printing for that day to finish a job, but i still got a technician in a couple of days later and he aligned them perfectly with the old eye piece in etc

to be honest, when it comes to the heads ide get someone in that knows what theya re doing. the dampers and other bits are not hard, you just need to take your time and put it back like it was. but heads and other stuff are very expensive and need to be 100%. i only done the heads because they arrived and the technician wasnt coming till the next day and i had work queing up and customers screaming. 😕

    Hi

Thanks for the advice, I feel that’s both side of the fence covered.

I carried out a flush through with cleaning fluid and the and ink fill and it’s nearly perfect again (about 6 dirty jets) so I think I’ll just hang fire until after Christmas where I’m sure it will block after lying dormant for 2 weeks.

    Kind regards

    Stephen
