  • cartridge recycling.. again!

Posted by Gavin MacMillan on February 24, 2009 at 3:44 pm

Been on about this before as have others. When I first looked into it some companies said that they would take away old carts and pay us for them. This never seemed to happen. Printone are now advertising that they will collect old carts although I have yet to check if they pay for them. Does anyone else have experience, good or bad, with printone or others and has anyone ever been paid for used cartridges?

    thanks for looking,

Gavin (considering building a nice big tower out of empties!)

I think I am right in saying that Hybrid will give you one full new cart in exchange for 35 empty Mimaki carts.

You are right. And they arrange free collection.

We’ve had two or three out of them.

Couple of years back I replied to an advert on the job centre website. Idea was you had your own area to collect used cart’s from an existing database.
Long story short, database was just a list of companies in the area that had never even been contacted (may as well been a phonebook) and you had to collect so many cart’s to fill a huge pallet it would have taken forever.

With each cart there was usually a load of packaging, styrene, cardboard, bags etc. I asked the organiser what he did with all of this and he told me to find a nearby skip and dump it in there! Bearing in mind the whole point of the company was supposed to be recycling, saving the planet, helping local charaties. I told them where to go.
