• Car wrap prices

After doing a matt black wrap we have had a few loose enquiries about doing more. One of these conversation led to the inevitable ‘I can get it done in Glasgow for £600’

Am I way out looking at more like £1000 for this? I know were not the quickest at wrapping but I wouldn’t bother my *rse for £600, can rattle out a couple of vans in and make that kinda money a lot easier.

Obviously don’t want to be way out the ball park with it, if we are then we just wont offer it, I would rather not scare people away and get a reputation for being a rip-off. Any tips appreciated.

Gavin, did they tell you where in Glasgow they could get it done for £600 ??
More importantly do you know how good a job they will get done. I can’t really comment on prices as I don’t do any wrapping but if people are doing it cheaply then maybe that’s why

I have seen a few cars wrapped and the finish on some of them is shocking, can’t see why the customer would ever have paid for it. One guy told me that the creases in his car couldn’t be avoided and that as you couldn’t really notice them he was happy.

no I didn’t find out where or point out that it would cost a fair bit to get there and then be stuck in Glasgow for a day waiting to get your car back! I’m not really bothered about this guy, I doubt he would ever get it done anyway, the wrap version of a tyre kicker, but I don’t want to get a name for being pricey and like I said would actually not offer the service rather than be seen as over priced.

Sure one of the guys that actually do a lot of this sort of work will answer and say you are not to expensive Gavin but you are always going to get someone somewhere offering to do it for next to nothing.
Looking at what people were charging I wondered why people got solid body wraps done until I spoke to a spray painter and found out just what a decent respray cost.

Like you say, for £600 it’s not worth the hastle when you think of the work you can do in the same amount of time.

Considering the cost of a decent wrap vinyl anyway, just tell the guy to go to Glasgow and expect him back in a few weeks :lol1:

i am very fussy in what i will wrap and turn away more than i do as there is a few not so good places springing up doing wraps in glasgow but i always tell the customer you get what you pay for and for £600 i can guarantee you it will not be good quality vinyl or workmanship.i charge around a £1000 for a medium sized car in single colour or if full colour £1500 plus

Might be worth mentioning that you can get anything for half the price these days but in the end your buying CR*P and you will need to buy it again after is worn out…. what’s worse…

    A) Paying £600 for a wrap that on closer inspection looks a bit rough and is probably done with inferior material by some half arsed amateur. And having to get it done again when it looks really bad 12 months later

    b) Paying £1200 for something that will still look reasonably good in 3 years time?

I recently done a wrap course with James Deacon, the difference is startling, I wouldn’t even attempt it yet as I know it would probably be back in a few months, and I have a modicum of experience.

Arm yourself with some photos of "Wraps gone bad" and let the customers see them when they say stuff like that, it may put things in to perspective for them. Just hand them the pics and say, yeah this bloke got it done on the cheap too….

    here is an example
