  • Can you print, contour cut and perf cut all in one operation

    HI All

I’m playing with perfcut and wondered if possible to contour cut and perf cut at the same time (well one after each other but without stopping the machine if you know what I mean) There are pressure setting in versaworks for perf cut so thought maybe that controls the perf while the cutter controls the contour but it did not work and contour cut both lines at the same pressure (the cutter pressure setting)

Anybody know if this is possible and if not how would you do it?

I’m off to try "return to origin" and then sending a new file (will have to separate Perf and contour files) at a higher pressure.

I know (think) I could use the registration crop marks but want to try avoid the reading crop marks part.

If anybody knows I’m barking up the wrong tree then please tell me to "leaf" it alone 🙄

    cheers

Sounds like you’re ‘branching’ out and trying to get to the ‘root’ of your problem.

I’d go with the registration marks, but just give it a go with return to origin. Nothing to lose apart from some vinyl.

i have only played with it briefly so stand to be corrected, Set you contour cut line, set your perf cut line. If your lines are named correctly you will see the Perf cut pressure & spacing settings. Send as print & cut job. If you try to Perf cut on the same line as the contour cut it can be very hit & miss.

    Hi Kev

Yes I have no problem doing either contour or perf cuts but I want to try doing them together at the same time (no success as yet)

Both sets of marching ants show but it only cuts as one depth so can’t do it I presume.

Will let you know how I get on but so far the perf cutting is not so great, keeps lifting corners etc so not leaving a nicely cut label at all, not bad but not great. Going to maybe stick in a new blade to see if any better.

    cheers

Warren, you can print , cut & contour on the same job.
It always contour first & then perfcut, make sure you increase perf cutting pressure enough though, i find i have to use 250gf with metamark md5.

the machine can be set in the menu to.
ignore commands such as knife pressure from VW and only use what the machine is set at.
don’t know VW but is there not a separate properties for the perf cut.

on my SC540 returning to base point is the same base point as set when it finds the marks. so you can send a separate file. i use it if i think i might have to do a double cut.

i have a love hate relationship with perf cut as i don’t think the cut head was really designed to stand up to that constant pounding, let alone the cutting strip.
my graphtec has so called soft landing haven’t noticed it.
