Can’t send Bitmaps anymore
I’ve been using the suggestion from Peter at Star Signs for some time in sending customers bitmaps for them to see

Trouble I’ve recently gone over to XP and I can’t seem to do this anymore
When I go into to ‘transform’ then ‘render to bitmap’ after reducing my file size to well less than 500k the puter tells me ‘there is not enough space on the selected drive, the file cannot be saved here’
I’ve got a 80 gig drive!!!
Anybody had the same experience or might know what’s wrong

why not just press the “prt scr” (print screen button)
then, open any art package such as corel, paintshop.
click “file” – “new” – say OK to anything it shows.
then click “paste.”
your whole screen shot appears in the box.
if you dont like the icons etc around the screen showing, then just draw a box round the area you want & click “cut” delete the left over.
then clcik “file” – “new” and say ok…
hit paste and in pops the new shot, minus the icons etc..
at this point you can save as whatever file is allowed. .jpg is gonna be smaller than the bmp. you can resize, crop chop or whatever to your image now.
i find this much easier and the file size is lower so easeir to email.

I do it the long winded way.
export to *.AI file.
Import into corel
export as Jpegthe only problem with this way is corel doesn’t use the same colour pallet and it’s longwinded.

Just tried your way Mort and its pretty easy
Might just stick with this until I can fix itI reckon it Signlab since I converted to XP
Anybody any ideas why this is happening?

Although I don’t have XP I follow a similar path to Mort, except I export as eps file. I open the eps (usually at 72dpi) in Photoshop and convert eps to jpg – to keep the file size down.
Works fine for me, and you get pretty quick at it.

I can never understand why Signlab make it so difficult to export as a jpeg or the like.
I do similar to Mort – Export as eps / ai then in Illustrator I reduce the size to less than A4 size across and “save for the Web” – it gives you choices for gif or jpeg. I use incredimail for email – that lets you insert a gif into the message body – I find that outlook isn’t always successful when opened at the other end.
Alternatively – use corel capture – that’s pretty good too – lots of options including rectangular selection tool.
