Hoping someone can help me with a profile problem. I’ve got a Mutoh Falcon 2 printer running aqueous pigment inks but I am having trouble finding icc profiles for it.
There are loads of media profiles for it on the Mutoh website but they are all for Onyx which I don’t have.

If anyone uses onyx I was hoping they could download some of the profiles & send me just the icc profile so I can make up my own media profiles for my rip.
really looking for 6 colour CMYKLcLm if possible but if not then CMYK 1×4 pigment would be a start.

What RIP are you using Martin? It might be that it’s more complicated than just using the ICC file from another RIP. It depends if there’s been any ink limiting or liniarisation done prior to creating the ICC. I’ll have a dig around for some Shiraz ones and see if they’re any good but I think you’ll find they won’t work in other RIPs as all the other stuff is held in the SCP in Shiraz.

Stafford I’m not sure if it has a name of it’s own. I am using Vinylmaster expert and it just says RIP Manager. I know with version 2.95 of vinylmaster pro it was called futurerip.se but they don’t seem to call it anything now.

All the profiles on the mutoh site for my printer are OML files which I obviously can’t open which is why I need someone with onyx to open them & just send me the icc profile.
There was an older version of onyx on that well known auction site the other day but unfortunately I got outbid on it at the last moment.

If you can contact me outside the boards, I know of a way to obtain an evaluation/off site backup copy of Onyx that may help you 😉

Thanks Stafford, email sent. Sure I will be able to sort something out if I can just get hold of a few icc profiles for the machine.

    Hi Martin
I know this is an old post but I was wanting to ask you a vinylmaster question after talking/writing to you about it a while back which inspired me to purchase the software.

I’m really struggling to export pdfs and use them in onyx. Everything seems to look great after I’ve exported it in the preview you get but when I import it in to onyx it seems to come through all muted colours. I don’t understand what i’m doing wrong, I’ve experimented with saving as a pdf using cmyk, spot colours etc, but am now scratching my head somewhat.

I’m hoping you may be able to throw some much needed light on the problem!

thanks in advance if you have any suggestions

    kind regards
    simon

I don’t run onyx myself so not something I have come across. I print directly from vmx which was why I was looking for icc profiles to start with. Onyx was out of my price range at the time & I couldn’t find an older version of the software.

Have you spoken with the guys at Future about this? Good idea to open a support ticket, they were really helpful getting a driver set up for my printer so I could use the machine. Not had many problems with the software but on the occasions I have had to ask them for help they have gone out of their way to sort things for me, great customer support.

Martin, why don’t you speak to the vinyl master people, they have been very helpful with a few issues I have had in the past with profiles, they nay indeed know the solution to your issue. Sorry just saw your post above doh
    Just an idea.
    Regards
    Graham
