Can someone advise what plotter blade for camm 1 please?
Posted by Robert Scullion on August 8, 2007 at 4:23 pmCan someone advise regarding plotter blade for camm 1 please. Have had this old trusty plotter for 5 years, 2nd hand when I got it and its never missed a beat.
I need a new blade, who’s best and not sure what I’ve got in mine, 30, 45 or 60 degree, no marking on the old one to identify, is there such a thing as an average one or more common used ?
Any help / advice appreciated
Thanks

just replied to another post regarding this company…
give Printone 01254 704330 a call… they do the best priced blades i know. (they are not resharpended like some others)

How do you get one blade to last 5 years?
You could also try Edward Mathias, sorry no number but a search should locate contact details for them.
I think they sell blades for most machines but they will also sell you a holder with a blade in it already set up just to pop in the machine and when it needs replacing you just send it back to them and they send you another one for a fraction of the price of some other suppliers.

Robert / Martin
Thanks for the prompt replies, will try printone tomorrow, whats the best degree of blade for everyday use, not that I use it every day, thats probably why its lasted so long.
Martin, you say as though the blade is seperate from the holder. the one I have is like a black plastic tube with a retaining ring half way down with a brass part at the bottom that includes the blade, I thought this was an assembly as such.

The standard holder has a pin at the top that you push to pop the blade out but there are some on the market that you can’t remove and you send them back to get sorted when they go defunct, so I think you need two. Probably just getting a cheap blade from printone will be fine if you don’t use it often. I tried the ones from doro tape that you send back but was unimpressed with the length of time they lasted.

45 degree is suitable for everyday use, 60 degree is for things like t.shirt
flock, and I think 30 degree is for harder materials like reflective, although
I stand to be corrected on that one.Cheers,

You where right, 23 mins on the phone to Edward Mathias, good stuff though and some sound advise. They do a blade/holder assembly the same as the one in my plotter
Was advised to change the cutting strip but having difficulty locating one, any advice guys.

Bob, you were lucky 23mins is a short conversation believe me :lol1:
As for cutting strip have you tried phoning Rolland ? It might be that a cutting strip from a different model machine will still fit.

sorry to drag up an old thread –
but Bob – did you get anywhere with a replacement cutting strip from Roland ?
I don’t actually need one – but who knows in the future !.. so would be nice to know if they are still available..if you could reply that would be grand 😀
