  • can my cadet operate wirelessly?

Posted by John & Dawn Roddick on July 26, 2007 at 1:47 pm

We have installed a Netgear wireless router (after great assistance from their helpline). Does anyone know whether the Cadet has the facility to operate wirelessly or is there a requirement for physical connection through USB between printer and PC.

    Thanks

I dont know if it could or not, but I wouldn’t recommend it, wireless is just not reliable enough, I wouldn’t trust it.

John, I dont know about the Cadet but I know both our HP9000 and 10000 cannot use a USB to Wi-Fi interface and the same goes for the Mimaki-CGFX160. I am assuming you wanted to use the wireless print server hubs. On top of that none of those machines can use a cable longer then 15′ without using a USB signal repeater.

i run my Cadet over the wired network (as an IP address) without a direct connection to the operating computer – picks it up perfectly.

I can’t see why it can’t be run wirelessly as it’s essentially just another network address for a ‘network printer’.

As already said – there is a very small possibility for signal loss…and data loss.

Obviously – you’d need to get something like a wireless print server (?) for it to plug into as it doesn’t have the capability in it’s own hardware.

Always the ‘really long ethernet cable’ then…easily get a couple of hundred feet with no problems.
