  • can i use heat gun on smart car doors?

Posted by John Harding on May 8, 2006 at 8:35 pm

Ive been asked to strip graphics from a smart car prior to applying new

Trouble is I know the door is not metal, carbon fibre or sommat so im concerned about whether I can use a hot air gun or a steamer on these surfaces without damage.

has anyone any experience of this 😕

    Thanks in advance – John

John, I never done a Smart strip, but whatever the door is made of, it will be able to withstand high temps (black paint and in the Costa del Sol)

S I dont think a hot air gun (used properly) will cause any problems.

John – I think like you but a car out in the sun warms up a lot slower than a hot air gun effect so just checking for potential pitfalls, thanks for quick reply

    anyone else have experience?

John – I personally own a smart and use a heat gun on it with no problems.
