Just a pricing idea question as I don’t do airbrush work cause I’m crap at it. A customer had a quote for both sides of a Subaru done with a crouching panther along the lenght of it. One claw over front arch ripping the paint the rear paw or tail over the rear arch and the body crouched in between with details of the muscles showing. To be done in a style similar to those glossy comics "real but comic like"".
The quote given was €2000 (£1,340) a side. as I said I don’t do airbrush but I assume there is a lot of work and skill involved. So what would you charge or think of the quote.

i recon if it were a wrap you would pay about the same… but i recon airbrush would be only way to match the paint on the wings exact. ie. so paint directly onto the wings.
if you had to print it ide assume you would have a big fee for original artwork to be created, then printing laminating, then labour for wrapping.
ive seen allot of crap airbrush work just like ive seen allot of crap wraps and signage. you pay for what you get… if the airbrush guy is worth his artistic ability then his fee is not to be grummbled at.

I’m not grumbling I just was interested in what the quote was like. Over price, underprice or about right, in the opinion of UKSB members esp. the airbrushers.
I have been asked to create a similar thing in cut vinyl and I am still waiting for feedback from the customer on colours and exact "look"" they want.

    Hi Michael,

Well you’d be looking at about £1400 to do that on both sides of a tank so on a car, you would easily be looking at around £3-4k for the artwork alone and then you have the clear/polish fee. It all depends just how ‘detailed’ the client wants it and how ‘cartoon-like’ it should be as your time will be less that way.

    Hope that helps 🙂

The quote does not sound unreasonable as you have to take into account lacquering which will mean masking basically the whole car.
