Could anyone please tell me where I can take my rolls of paper/vinyl and have them cut to size preferably in the Glasgow Area.. or close if possible.

    Many Thanks Andy

You will struggle to cut a roll of vinyl with any kind of toothed blade. Any tiny snag could cause the vinyl to tear when unrolled. It’s cut using a s/s blade like a meat slicer. The blade don’t rotate, as such. The shaft of the machine that holds the roll does.

Stupid question, but why don’t you order the rolls cut to size?

Hi Andy, the rolls of vinyl that I get are cheaper the bigger the size e.g. I use 17″ rolls which are £60.00 but the 54″ roll of the same vinyl is only £100 so it make sense to order the 54″ and turn it into 3 x 17″

    Cheers Andy

I’ve used an electric chop saw (the type you use for cutting aluminium sign trim) in the past to cut vinyl rolls down to size. Usually this is because I have ordered vinyl at a wider width in order to flood coat a panel. The remainder I have cut to size in order to fit my cutter. However. I normally buy all my vinyl at the correct width to suit my cutter. I don’t really believe the savings in buying wider widths than you really need are justified by the hassle. After all, the vinyl cost of a sign should only be a small precentage of the selling price of the sign.

Better still, why not consider becoming a member of the UKSG in order to cut down on your materials costs?

last time i asked, europoint didn`t slit logs, just sold the standard sizes 610/1220 etc.

    might have changed now.
