Can I change which node is the start node in Corel 12?
My first post here and I can see this is going to be a useful place 🙂
I’m a real newbie to the world of cut vinyl stickers, but we bought a Summa D60 about 6 months ago for race car graphics and have fuddled our way along with it. I wish I’d found this forum a while ago 🙄 lolAnyway, one of the things I haven’t been able to work out or find any info on is primary nodes. We’re using Corel Draw 12 and Cocut 11 standard.
If I create a shape or text, one of the nodes per shape in Corel is darker than the others. I’ve read that this is the primary node. All good so far 🙂
My problem is that this node is almost always on a curved part of the shape and it is this node that the cutter starts with.
We’re finding we get funny little shapes where the start and finish join up and I’m wondering if I can change which node is primary, so the curved parts are cut in a nice single swoop rather than one half from each end?hope this makes sense, I can get some pics if that helps?

Personally I wouldn’t put that down to the start node. More like blade sharpness / offset / pressure / media alignment…….well just what I recon…..I could be wrong

Yes, you need to adjust the offset on your plotter. Have a look at the manual on how to do this – it should also give you the correct settings for material types, but this may need adjusting to allow for blade wear.

Does anyone have instructions knocking about for how to do this? The multilingual manual we got with it has no mention of what offset is or how to set/adjust it 😕

Took me 1 minute to go to Summa website and open PDF Manual and find the answers………………….

If for experiment, or for what ever reason, you still want to change the position of the first node in Corel. The only way I know is to select the node you want to become the first, press the ‘Break Curve’ button on the tool bar, or right click the node and select ‘Break apart’. The node you have just broken apart is now the fist node and all that remains to be done is join this first and the newly created last node together. The first node should still be selected after the break so if you press ‘Shift + End’ the end one will also be selected and the two can be connected by pressing the ‘Join two nodes’ button. You can of course select the two nodes by dragging a box over them.
